How to prepare your film before sending it?
To ensure everything goes smoothly with the development of your Super 8 film, here are our recommendations before sending it by mail:
Check your movie
Identify the format (Super 8, Double 8, 16 mm), the type (recent, expired, Kodachrome…) and its general condition.
Also check that you can see "Exposed" on the visible part of the film; if you don't see it, your film is not finished!
Prepare your packaging
Pack it in a rigid cardboard box or protective packaging to prevent any damage during transport.
We are desperately waiting for fiber optic internet!
We cannot send you a 4K scan via link, the file is far too large.
Add a USB flash drive or external hard drive to your package. We can also offer you a brand new USB flash drive for €10, which we will add to the quote.
Attach your instructions
Pssst, little tip🤫
This is extremely important for quick processing because we receive a lot of films by mail!
-> Add your full contact details
->the type of service desired (development only, with 2K/4K scanning),
->the speed at which you filmed
->if you want the perforations to be visible in the scan.

FAQ about Super 8 film development
The price depends on the type of film and the services chosen:
- Color development only: from €45 for recent film (15m), €55 for black and white or expired film.
- Scan-based film processing: expect to pay €60 for 2K and €70 for 4K for recent color films. Expired and black and white films require manual processing (additional €10).
- Options: cross-processing for Ektachrome/UT18 developments.
Yes, we develop expired and Kodachrome films, but we do it by hand.
Expired film requires more delicate handling and can produce less predictable results: loss of contrast, color shift, damaged areas.
For Kodachrome, development is done only in black and white, because the color process no longer exists in the laboratory.
Kodachrome films can no longer be developed in color: the specific process (K-14) has not been offered by any laboratory for years.
At Studio Baxton, we offer a black and white processing service that preserves images with a high-contrast result. This type of development requires special care to minimize defects related to the age of the film.
Yes, but with caution: damaged film (breaks, torn perforations, irregular winding) can be developed, but the result will depend on the actual condition of the film.
At Studio Baxton, we take the time to examine each film before processing to limit the risks: depending on the damage, some images may be lost or deteriorated during the process.
Turnaround times vary depending on the period and workload: generally allow 4 to 6 weeks between receiving the film and returning the digital files or developed film.
⚠️ We always communicate estimated delivery times upon receipt, and certain periods (e.g. maintenance, holidays) may result in a longer delay.
