September & October : Fovea, Sarah Seené
Opening Friday 6th of September 19:00, exhibition until 29th of October
Fovea is a documentary photography series, made in black and white film, which highlights young people with visual impairment in Quebec. Whether they are visually impaired due to a degenerative disease, a car accident, an early stroke, or were born blind, these young people have a striking life course that demonstrates extraordinary resilience. . Far from white canes and smoked glasses, Fovea's portraits are constructed at the antipodes of clichés on the visually impaired. They illustrate the tender and poetic relationship that young visually impaired and blind people have with the world around them. All of Fovea's portraits are accompanied by descriptive Braille poems and sound documentaries.
